Physical profile

Andromedans are described as tall, slender humanoids with skin in shades of pale blue, indigo or violet, sometimes with a faint iridescence, and with elongated features and elegant hands. Hair, when present, is dark and often described as braided or ornamented. Eyes are large and light-coloured. The type is portrayed as serene and formal, more diplomat than warrior or healer.

Reported origin

The name is deliberately ambiguous. Andromeda is both a northern constellation and, within it, the Andromeda Galaxy, the nearest large galaxy to our own at about 2.5 million light-years. Contactee sources rarely say which they mean, and the distance to the galaxy makes the question moot: no conventional physics allows routine travel across it. The lore treats the name as a designation of remoteness and seniority.

Culture

The central image of the Andromedan lore is the council. In Alex Collier's accounts from the early 1990s, the Andromedans sit on a governing body that oversees this part of the galaxy and that has, he claimed, debated intervention on Earth. The society is described as philosophical, consensus-driven and deeply concerned with free will and non-interference, with individuals living for centuries.

Technology

Collier described Andromedan technology as oriented toward time and dimensional travel rather than speed, and spoke of very large motherships capable of carrying whole communities. The descriptions are impressionistic and mirror the science fiction of their era.

Craft

Andromedan craft are described as enormous, city-sized vessels that remain far from Earth, with smaller shuttles for contact.

Communication

Collier described face-to-face and telepathic contact with individual Andromedans; later material is channelled through mediums.

Earth encounters

Alex Collier, an American who lectured widely in the 1990s, is the principal source. He claimed lifelong contact with Andromedans named Moraney and Vasais, and his talks and the 1996 book Defending Sacred Ground contain the bulk of the lore. Earlier, the 'Andromeda Council' idea circulated in contactee and channelled circles, and the Andromedan sits alongside the Pleiadian and Arcturian as one of the benevolent 'council races' of that literature.

Lore & history

The Andromedan is contactee lore with no physical case behind it. Its appeal lies in scale: a people from another galaxy, governing from a distance, wise enough to argue about whether to help us. XenoAtlas lists it as contactee lore and speculative.

Collier's material is notable for its politics. His Andromedans warned about human governments, secret agreements with Greys and reptilians, and coming upheaval, mixing contactee spirituality with the conspiracy culture of the 1990s. That blend, benevolent aliens plus hidden human betrayal, became the standard form of the genre after him.
