Witnesses at Point Pleasant described a figure six to seven feet tall, grey or brown, with large wings folded against its back and eyes that glowed red and were set, several said, in the chest or shoulders rather than in a distinct head. It flew without flapping and kept pace with cars at speed. XenoAtlas's Mothmanoid is that figure completed as a being: a moth-like head with large glowing eyes, antennae, feathery plumage and wings.
The Avian is described as a tall humanoid with a bird's head, most often a raptor's, with a curved beak, forward-facing eyes and a crest or ruff of feathers. Plumage runs from white and gold to blue, and covers the head, shoulders and sometimes the arms, with vestigial wings in some accounts. The body is otherwise human-like, standing upright, with hands rather than talons. The overall impression in the lore is of dignity: the being is a herald, not a hunter.
