Whitley Strieber
The novelist whose 1987 book Communion put the definitive Grey face on the bestseller lists.
Strieber was a successful horror novelist when, in 1985, he reported being taken from his cabin in upstate New York by small beings with large eyes. His 1987 account, Communion, became a huge bestseller, and its cover painting, a slender being with vast black almond eyes, became the definitive public image of the Grey.
Strieber has always been careful not to claim the visitors were extraterrestrial, describing the experience as genuinely strange and unresolved. His work moved the abduction narrative from ufology into mainstream culture.
