Travis Walton

The Arizona logger who vanished for five days in 1975 in front of his crew.

In November 1975, while working with a logging crew in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest of Arizona, Walton approached a glowing disc and, his crew said, was struck by a beam of light. He disappeared for five days. On his return he described small bald beings and tall human-like ones aboard a craft.

His crew members passed polygraph tests, and the case became the basis for the 1993 film Fire in the Sky, whose examination scene was far more violent than Walton's own account. It remains one of the most argued-over abduction cases, with both a strong witness base and persistent hoax allegations.
