The 'Jellyfish' UAP Video
A thermal video from a US base in Iraq shows a dark, trailing shape that drifts over the base, hovers over a body of water for seventeen minutes, and rises away. Published in 2024, it was quickly explained by analysts as a cluster of balloons, though the military has not said so on the record.

What happened
The footage, recorded by a base's thermal surveillance camera in October 2018, shows an object with several downward-hanging appendages moving slowly across the compound, changing apparent temperature, and then hovering over water before ascending at an angle. Filmmaker Jeremy Corbell published it in January 2024, saying it had circulated among military personnel who called it 'the jellyfish'.
The object
A dark, irregular shape with trailing tendrils. Its size and distance are unknown because the camera's zoom and range are not recorded on the public clip, which has been cropped.
Explanations
Analysts including Mick West identified the shape as consistent with a bundle of mylar party balloons drifting on the wind, with the 'tendrils' being strings and ribbon and the temperature changes being the balloons' surfaces turning relative to the sun. Corbell has said the object was tracked for a long period and rejected the balloon reading. The Pentagon has not commented on the record. The case is disputed, with the balloon explanation favoured by most analysts who have examined the public clip.
