In channelled literature the Lyrans are often described as the ancestors of both humans and feline beings, and some sources call them cat-like themselves. The Felinid makes the feline features explicit: eyes, ears and musculature of a great cat on a human frame.
Both come from The Prism of Lyra and its successors; neither has a sighting record.

In their own dossiers
The Felinid combines a human body with feline features: a cat's ears, slit pupils, fur or fur-like markings, and in some renderings whiskers or a tail. Channelled sources describe the type as lithe, athletic and graceful, with golden, tawny or spotted colouring. The face ranges from fully feline to human with cat-like eyes and ears, and XenoAtlas uses the latter, the 'Lyran feline' of the literature, as its reference.
Lyrans are described as tall, strong and warm-toned, the most physically robust of the human-like types, with hair ranging from blond to red-brown and skin from fair to golden. A recurring detail in the channelled literature is a feline quality, sometimes only in the eyes and sometimes extending to a full cat-like face, which is why the Felinid is often treated as a Lyran sub-lineage. They are portrayed as pioneers: explorers, settlers and, in the founding myth, ancestors.
